Journalism Undergraduate Curriculum
Freshman Year:
Students majoring in journalism must complete the following courses before entering any sophomore courses: Engl 101 or 105 or111; Ins T 100; PolSc 110 or Hist 170 or Econ 200.

Upon completion of the freshmen and sophomore core courses, all students majoring in journalism will
have the opportunituy to concentrate in one of the areas of concentration. Students should be aware
that the department has a specified sequence of courses. Majors must consult the department before
enrolling in any communication course. Students interested in public relations or media management are
required to build an individualized program of study in consultation with a departmental advisor.
Junior Year:
Broadcast students: (must take 3 B-labs plus 1 other)
Print & Photo students: (must take 3 A-labs plus 1 other)
Media Management students: (must take 2 C-labs plus 2 others)
